The Love Of My Girl - James Bell

Stones Throw label manager and creator of the new re-issue sub label 'Now Again' Egon was responsible for the funk compilation 'Funky 16 Corners' named after the deepfunk classic of the same name by The Highlighters Band out of Indianapolis. Wanting to legitimately put out a compilation of some of the greatest tracks out there he and label owner Peanut Butterwolf famously set off on a tour of the states locating the artists. On the way they managed to discover all the Lamp Records master tapes including an unreleased LP from the Ebony Rhythm Band, as well as meeting up with some of the people behind the most sought after funk cuts ever pressed onto 7 inches of black vinyl. Check out the Egon gallery at Stones Throw to see for yourself.
